Bannon and Kobach, all is forgiven; just build the GD wall for us!

Although I’m for the exact same political goals as Steve Bannon and Kris Kobach, I’ve sometime questioned whether they both let their egos get in the way of their usefulness to President Trump.

Bannon, who probably is one of four people besides Trump who can lay claim to being essential in the 2016 victory, has been know to shoot his mouth off in ways that have hurt Trump’s Agenda. He was fired in August 2017 for contradicting the president on North Korea, and in January 2018 he had to apologize for comments he made to Michael Wolff that were quoted in “Fire and Fury.” Bannon called Don Jr.’s meeting with a Russian lawyer “treasonous” and said President Trump must have known about the meeting.

Bannon learned that loose lips end careers, which was a shame because he is a brilliant strategist.

Ditto Kris Kobach, the former Kansas Secretary of State who was destined to be the president’s new immigration czar until he wasn’t. Kobach reportedly made exorbitant demands of the White House that made it seem like he thought he was more important that Trump himself. Buh-bye.

My concerns about Bannon and Kobach may have to take a backseat though after what they were able to pull off last weekend, with the help of a bunch of other fine Americans, especially Brian Kolfage. Over the course of the Memorial Day weekend, the private We Build the Wall organization put up a mile of wall on the US-Mexico border in Texas at the cost of $6 million.

This is literally a monumental development. If private citizens can put up a border wall that quickly and for that little money, there should be huge pressure on the federal government to get its ass in gear. To build the 700 miles of wall deemed essential, we would only need to spend $4.2 billion, not the $10 billion or $20 billion or $70 billion usually thrown about.

And if the feds won’t do it, then get out of the way because patriotic Americans will. Bannon has said the group has targeted between 250 and 400 miles of private land where similar bollard fencing can be built.

We Build the Wall, which was begun on GoFundMe by Kolfage, plans to sell the mile of completed wall to the United States for $1. It connects two existing stretches in an area considered a high risk target area by the Border Patrol.
