What the hell good is the Wall Street Journal?

The editorial in the Wall Street Journal threw down the gauntlet. Now it is up to Donald Trump and Republican conservatives to pick it up and throw it back in their face.

The headline was “A second term for what?” The article accuses Trump of “playing to his base.” You know what that means, don’t you? That Trump is not betraying the MAGA voters who got him elected and not betraying his own principles. To the Wall Street Journal that is a bad thing, which makes me ask, “What the hell good is the Wall Street Journal to me or America?”

This editorial shows the huge divide between the moneyed class of elite Republicans on Wall Street and the everyday people on Main Street. The WSJ thinks Trump can’t win votes by promising to Make America Great because that is not what Americans want. To the WSJ, Americans are just interested in enriching themselves and the country is a dim afterthought.

  • One paradox is that his main policy successes have come from pursuing a conventional conservative agenda. The failures have been on the issues like trade and immigration that are the most identified with Trumpian disruption. …
  • On immigration … the President missed a chance to strike a deal trading more border security (including his wall) for legalizing Dreamers. He must now confront the asylum crisis at the border with no help from Democrats. On trade, Mr. Trump has disrupted global rules but has put nothing new and stable in their place. Asking voters to believe he’ll do better on these issues in a second term isn’t likely to turn many swing voters his way.

I’m sorry, but trade and immigration have not been failures. Trump has delivered a NAFTA replacement and has set the bar high for a pro-American trade policy with China and other countries. The Wall Street Journal just first like it because they are globalists who don’t believe in America First.

Same thing goes for immigration. President Trump has fought tooth and nail to deliver a pro-American immigration and border policy, and the moneyed elites have worked to hinder him at every opportunity. It’s Congress that has done nothing on immigration, not Trump.

The Wall Street Journal dismisses Trump’s re-election really in Orlando as “talking to the base.” They think he needs to tone it down — go along to get along. What they really mean is that he he needs to be co-opted, turned into one more globalist shill. Fat chance!

  1. Snobby, elitist, WSJ subscribers might object to these thoughts, but, WSJ black & white print might really be good for lasagna layering in organic gardens, shredding into the base of flower pots & especially good for TP during depressing, Bear Market cycles when their investments take a dive.

  2. I had the same thoughts and mentioned to my wife that it was the most out of sync Editorial I have ever seen by them. It seemed as if a rogue editor had written it as It really did not make sense as to its political view. As did not allowing the editor of the NYT publish his defense of the indefensible today as well. It felt as if the DNC took over the paper for the day. They will go the way of CNN if they continue. 3. It seems so, as the I mentioned exactly that to my wife while reading today’s editorials. RLS
