Heartland Diary USA welcomes new readers!

It’s been a period of tremendous growth for the Heartland Diary USA website, so I wanted to take a few minutes to introduce myself and say thanks for all the support.

HeartlandDiaryUSA.com was begun in October 2018 with a few loyal readers, and has grown to almost 7,500 readers today. That includes more than 6,000 followers on Twitter, but I find that the readers who subscribe directly to my website or to my Facebook page are the most dedicated.

Last week, a Facebook user by the name of Stephen Youhanaie, who specializes in short witty sayings, told his more than 4,300 Facebook friends to take a look at my Facebook page. Soon my followers had grown from 268 to 477 today. I can’t thank Stephen enough!

I’m humbled that he though enough of my conservative political commentary to recommend it to his friends and followers, especially since he usually provides insightful commentary in 30 words or less when it often takes me 1,000 words or more to do the job! Here’s an example:

Thanks Stephen!

So anyway, with all those new readers hanging around, I thought I would provide a little background on myself by way of introduction.

My name is Frank Miele, and I retired from a long career as a journalist in September 2018. I worked at the Daily Inter Lake in Kalispell, Montana, for more than 34 years, the last 18 as managing editor.

I prided myself on my fairness and my ability to tell anyone’s story in the news pages, and to let all people give their opinions in our opinion pages. These would seem to be fundamental pillars of journalism, but over the last two decades it was evident that Old School Journalism was dying and being replaced by liberal advocacy journalism that was squeezing out fair-minded individuals such as myself.

Since 9/11 I have been a proud patriotic freedom-loving conservative. That has riled up more than a few readers in Kalispell, who occasionally would try to get me fired, but I had a supportive boss, and weathered all the storms until it was time to move on. After I retired though, I wasn’t ready to shut up. I got offered the chance to write a weekly conservative column at Real Clear Politics (on Mondays) and also invented my website, where I could spout off daily.

If you are already a reader, thank you. If you just come across this by happenstance, please check me out at www.HeartlandDiaryUSA.com. If you subscribe there, you will get my new posts directly in your inbox. Or follow me on Facebook @HeartlandDiaryUSA or on Twitter or Parler @HeartlandDiary.

My new book is “The Media Matrix: What If Everything You Know Is Fake,” which offers many examples of the press being the enemy of the truth. To support my work, please consider buying “The Media Matrix” or my “Why We Needed Trump” trilogy, which documents the downward spiral of the USA before Trump arrived on the scene. The books are available at Amazon in paperback or Kindle editions. Go here for a free sample: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/sitb/B07PDQBJM4

  1. I live in NW Montana and have read Frank’s editorials for years. He was an editor that was not afraid to print both sides of an issue – he was the most objective newspaper editor I have ever experienced. I wish he were back at the Interlake! Since he retired the editorial page in the Interlake has deteriorated to being a drab bit of news print unworthy of my time.
