Blagojevich finally out of prison; Swamp is unhappy! Let’s celebrate!

Great news! President Trump has commuted the sentence of former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich.

Of course, the swamp is hopping mad. Blagojevich is supposed to remain in prison as a warning to all swamp critters to do what they are told and play the game.

Blagojevich has been in prison since 2012 on manufactured charges related to the fake crime of trying to sell the Senate seat vacated by Barack Obama when he became president. The allegation is that Blagojevich didn’t want to be ordered by fellow Democrat Obama and his team about who to appoint but decided he should get something back in exchange for the appointment.

Folks, another name for this is “politics as usual.” It was the Obama people and the Chicago Democrat mob that were putting pressure on Blagojevich and he was just letting them know they couldn’t push him around. He didn’t ask for money. He just wanted a political favor in exchange for a political favor — such as being named to a Cabinet position. Like I said, politics as usual.

Certainly nothing that warranted a prison term of 14 years in prison, but that’s what Blago got. He was the Roger Stone of his day.

President Trump took an interest in the governor’s case because he got to know him when he was a guest cast member in “Celebrity Apprentice.” That’s when I got to know him as well, and it was pretty obvious that Blagojevich was pretty much a guileless mensch — a guy who got sucked up and spit out by a corrupt system he didn’t invent but merely tried to play like one of the big boys. Unfortunately he was no match for Barack Obama.

Trump toyed around with pardoning Blago or commuting his sentence back in 2018 when he pardoned Dinesh D’Souza on trumped-up campaign finance violations. I wrote about that in an essay called “Pardon me, CNN, but Trump is the president, not you.” That essay is reprinted in both Volume 3 of “Why We Needed Trump” and in “The Media Matrix: What If Everything You Know Is Fake.”

As I wrote in that essay:

“Bottom line: Trump did what we elected him to do — act as president. Here’s what the Constitution says about the president: ‘… he shall have Power to grant Reprieves and Pardons for Offences against the United States.‘ Hmm, sorry Jim Acosta. Looks like Trump wins again.”

I revisited the pardon issue briefly in April 2019 when the Fake News Media was howling over a rumor that President Trump had promised a pardon to acting Homeland Security Director Kevin McAleenan if he were arrested in connection with carrying out the president’s border policies.

Of course, what drives the left crazier than anything is when Trump acts like President. They hate it. They hate him.

So good, yes, commute Blago’s sentence, and for good measure, invite him and his lovely wife and children to the White House for dinner. Put Blago in charge of a re-election committee. Heck, maybe give him that Cabinet post after all!

Anything to watch Democrat heads explode! And if a few RINOS explode with them, too damn bad!
