Jussie Smollett is Nancy Pelosi without the gavel

“Empire” actor Jussie Smollett told Chicago Police that on Jan. 29 he was attacked in the early morning hours by two white men shouting pro-Trump slogans as they beat him because he was black and gay.

Chicago Police took this report very seriously and expended no doubt hundreds of thousands of dollars on an investigation to find the two men responsible for this hate crime.

In the end, it appears that the two “white” attackers were two black Nigerian brothers who were friends of Smollett. Police have evidence that the brothers purchased the rope that was fashioned into a noose and hung around Smollett’s neck. From what we can tell, it was Smollett himself who engineered the attack and now faces likely charges of filing a false report.

So what can we learn from this horrific event. First of all, we must acknowledge that we can not automatically believe allegations of a crime. Although most reports of assault or other crimes are legitimate, false reports are not uncommon. When you think of Jussie Smollett’s case, however, it reminds us that average people have a hard time believing someone would make up a false accusation. Why would he lie, we ask? It wouldn’t make any sense.

Except in the case of this “MAGA country” attack, it would make sense if Smollett hated President Trump more than he loved his own sense of honor. It’s the old Philosophy 101 question of whether you would kill Hitler in 1923 to change the course of history and prevent the Holocaust and World War II. Smollett may have felt a “higher calling” to smear Trump and his supporters that outweighed any risk of filing a false report.

The same explanation could also be used to make sense of Christine Blasey Ford’s allegation against Justice Brett Kavanaugh. The initial instinct is to believe any victim, of course, but the answer to “why” would Ford make up her accusation against Kavanaugh is plain. Like Smollett, she hated Trump and the MAGA movement. Whether in her case it was a lie or simply an errant memory, we will never know, but she certainly had motive for making up a story — because it would hurt Trump.

That is what makes the Smollett case so fascinating. If it proves true that he lied about the attack, his case becomes an overt example of Trump Derangement Syndrome — the unwillingness to accept the legitimacy of the Trump presidency — and how it can be used to justify anything.

In other words, Jussie Smollett is an avatar of all the pent-up frustration and overt hatred in the Democratic Party that would allow the Deep State and the Resistance to do or say anything in the cause of their higher calling — saving us from Trump. Smollett is Nancy Pelosi without the gavel. He is Andrew McCabe without the badge. He is Rod Rosenstein without the FISA warrant. He is Jim Acosta without the microphone. He is Robert Mueller without the grand jury.

All of these people have one thing in common — they want to destroy President Donald Trump. Why would they lie and create a false narrative of Russian collusion? Because they want to destroy President Donald Trump. Why would they paint Trump and his supporters as racists? Same answer — to destroy the president. FBI agent Peter Strzok called it an “insurance policy” to protect the nation against Trump. The rest of us call it a conspiracy to defraud the nation in an exercise of pure political power that is transparent, ugly and brutal.

Why would they do it? Because we let them.
