Now that the Republicans have lost the majority in the House, the chance of Trump delivering on his promise to build a border wall is practically nonexistent during his first term.
There’s plenty of blame to go around, starting with Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell, but Trump has squandered plenty of opportunities to make the Wall a reality.
Now, he is talking about forcing Wall funding by using the pressure of a government shutdown, but it’s hard to believe he will follow through. Even if he does, there may not enough time to pull it off.
This is the one area where Trump seems to be more talk than action, but since it’s the most serious threat facing the nation, there is no room for us to say “Well, at least he tried!”
I hope I am wrong. I hope Trump surprises me like has surprised so many others for the past three years, but I fear that I am not — in which case God save us.
