I must say I was impressed with Ari Fleischer’s proposed questions for the 20 Democrat candidates taking the debate stage next week.
Fleischer was the press secretary under President George W. Bush and generally falls in the moderate wing of the GOP, but he’s seen enough to know that the press will never be as tough on Democrats as Republicans. Nonetheless, he challenged the debate moderators to ask tough questions instead of softballing the usual “Why do you hate Trump” questions. His list was pretty solid for a Bushie. Here are some of the best:
►Former Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams said she was fine with noncitizens voting in some local elections. Are there any elections in which you would support allowing noncitizens the right to vote, or do you flat-out oppose allowing illegal immigrants the right to vote in any election?
►How do you define “fair share”? The top 10% of taxpayers, people making more than $139,713 a year, made almost 47% of the nation’s income but paid nearly 70% of all income taxes. What percent of the income tax should they pay? And I repeat, they make just 47% of the nation’s income.
►Will you close the U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem and move it back to Tel Aviv?
►Will you re-sign the Iran nuclear deal, the same one President Barack Obama negotiated?
►Did President Obama do the right thing when he released five Taliban prisoners from Guantanamo in exchange for Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl?
►Do you consider Bergdahl a traitor?
I would add a few of my own:
►How do you justify allowing unrestricted abortion when children have survived after being born at 26 weeks weighing less than 10 ounces? What makes people human? When does the right to life begin?
►Is belief in the Bible protected by the First Amendment or can people be forced to violate their religious faith if it conflicts with a popular social agenda?
►When, if ever, is a government agency or employee justified in intervening in a federal election to benefit one candidate over another?
Of course there is no chance the lefty moderators will ask tough questions unless they are trying to shame someone for not being radical enough! And you know that whatever questions they are asked, the Democrats are going to deflect to their usual talking points. There isn’t one straight shooter among them.
