RIP Herman Cain: An American original (with a smile)

Herman Cain has fallen victim to the Wuhan virus, silencing a champion of American greatness prematurely at the age of 74.

Cain was a true American original, following the Horatio Alger path from rags to riches. He grew up poor in Atlanta, but put himself through Morehouse College with a degree in mathematics in 1967 and went on to work for Coca-Cola, Pillsbury and Burger King before becoming CEO of Godfather’s Pizza, where he turned a bankrupt company into a major success story.

That experience, plus his recovery from cancer in 2006, led Cain to consider applying his life experience on a greater playing field. He became politically active during the height of the Tea Party movement and rode it to success.

“The only tactic liberals have is to try to intimidate people into thinking that the Tea Party is racist. The Tea Party is not a racist movement, period! If it were, why would the straw polls keep showing that the black guy is winning? That’s a rhetorical question. Let me state it: The black guy keeps winning.”

His bid for the GOP nomination in 2012 presaged the success of Donald Trump in 2016. Both were optimists and American patriots, both were outsiders who pushed back against “conventional wisdom,” and both were viciously attacked by the swamp creatures who wanted to protect the status quo.

“I’m not a professional politician. I’m a professional problem solver,” Cain would say.

He became famous for his tax reform plan with the catchy slogan of 9-9-9, which would replace the current tax code with a 9-percent business transactions tax, a 9-percent personal income tax, and a 9-percent federal sales tax.

Cain’s plain-spoken approach, his sunny disposition and his track record of business success actually catapulted him into the lead for the GOP nomination in a crowded field that included Ron Paul, Rick Santorum, Newt Gingrich, Rick Perry and eventual ratfink loser Mitt Romney. Sadly, the dirty trick thugs hit Cain with a series of smears that led him to withdraw from the race.

Cain served for 20 months as president of the Federal Reserve in Kansas City, and last year President Trump nominated him as a board member of the Fed, but opposition from Democrat yahoos and GOP nitwits sidelined that.

Recently, Cain had signed a deal to start a TV show on Newsmax TV, which would have been a valuable resource during the 2020 election fight, but alas Cain became ill with Covid in early July and was hit hard by the virus. Although a report just a few days ago suggested he was recovering, it was not to be.

Rest In Peace, Herman.
