I’m still fuming over Mitt Romney’s craven betrayal of his president and his party on New Year’s Day. The 2012 GOP standard bearer wrote an op-ed in the Trump-hating Washington Post trashing the president and claiming his character makes him unworthy of the presidency.
My Monday column at Real Clear Politics will contain my own analysis of Romney’s character (sorely lacking) but in the meantime I want to take time today to applaud some of the defenders of the president who publicly called out Romney’s shameless self-promotion stunt.
First up is Investor’s Business Daily, which wrote a scathing editorial that ran through a laundry list of reasons why Trump is president and Romney is not. What it all seems to come down to is Matthew 7:5: “You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye.”
