Can you imagine the pre-school antics we would be seeing from the Washington press corps if the White House were still holding daily press briefings in the midst of the current impeachment frenzy?
We owe Sarah Sanders an eternal debt of gratitude for temporarily canceling the media showboat sessions back in March, and now Stephanie Grisham, who took over for Sanders, confirmed quietly last week that the press briefings will not return under her tenure.
“[T]o be honest, the briefings have become a lot of theater, and I think a lot of reporters were doing it to get famous. They’re writing books now, they’re all getting famous off of this presidency.”
Grisham’s decision to Deep Six the idiotic press briefings came a couple of weeks after my Sept. 9 column at Real Clear Politics denouncing the daily briefings for having “devolved in the last 25 years into a reality TV show somewhere between “Survivor” and “The Osbournes.”

As I wrote in a previous column, I got a thank-you note from Grisham for that column. She mentioned the “hostile media,” which is a bit of an understatement. I’m not sure if I helped to persuade her and the president that inviting the Deep Swamp media into your home is a lot like inviting sharks into your swimming pool, but there is certainly no reason to chum the waters with the blood of innocent government employees like Grisham and Sanders.
Were the briefings still in effect for the Deep State Coup impeachment we are now undergoing, it would have just emboldened idiots like CNN’s Jim Acosta. Remember, the mainstream media is no longer an independent Fourth Estate, but rather a wholly owned subsidiary of the Democratic Party. They are part of “the Resistance” and they only want to destroy the president.
The president wisely called the Fake News industry “the enemy of the people.” It is also proving to be the enemy of the truth. Remember, sharks don’t give a damn about the truth; they just want blood. Fortunately, President Trump fights back.
If you enjoy reading these daily essays, I hope you will consider purchasing one of the books of the “Why We Needed Trump” trilogy. Part 1 is subtitled “Bush’s Global Failure: Half Right.” Part 2 is “Obama’s Fundamental Transformation: Far Left.” Part 3 is “Trump’s American Vision: Just Right.” My new book is “The Media Matrix: What if everything you know is fake?” They are available at Amazon in paperback or Kindle editions. Very, very wise indeed. So glad you suggested it! It was usually an event the caused my blood pressure to elevate at their rude, lying, and unprofessional behavior.
There was a time when “the Resistance” (as in WWII) was a pseudonym for the noble and courageous who stealthily worked to bring down the Hitler regime. There’s nothing noble or courageous about these bloodthirsty, big maw “sharks”. Canceling the press briefings was a stroke of genius. Thanks for doing your part, Frank
Thank you, Mr. Miele. Your assessment and the new White House press secretary are absolutely correct. News people who should remain in journalism school due to their lack of impartiality, facts, and reason saw a path to fame, fortune, and guest appearances. I thought the liberal media smelled blood when Sean Spicer tried his best to hold a Q & A. The reporters saw ways of interrupting and challenging him and continued badgering Sarah Sanders. It was pure badgering, not fighting to reveal the truth. So absolutely thank God the theatrics of the press has been out in front of a loud helicopter and cameras are not focused on the “so-called” reporter but on the man they love to hate.
Sincerely,
