So Rod Rosenstein has begun his testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee, but the nation’s attention is firmly directed elsewhere.
Yes, Fox News is showing the testimony (for how long?) but CNN and MSNBC are proudly ignoring it. No doubt the civil unrest surrounding the George Floyd case provides convenient cover for the left-wing news channels to ignore testimony into the origins of the Russia Hoax, but their conspiracy of silence would have taken place with or without the riots.
Let’s face it. Anyone who wanted to know the truth about the anti-Trump coup plot would already have all the information they need. But the mainstream media is like Pontius Pilate washing his hands of guilt and asking “what is truth?”
So far Rosenstein has only answered questions from Chairman Lindsey Graham, Ranking Member Dianne Feinstein and Sen. Chuck Grassley, but it is obvious that Rosenstein is not willingly going to admit the scope of the anti-Trump conspiracy in the Justice Department. He is using “hindsight” to admit that “mistakes” were made, but he is carefully avoiding responsibility for any role in the plot to take down the president.
A few senators may make inroads in trying to get Rosenstein to make damaging admissions, but I doubt it.
If Graham really wanted to get to the bottom of the conspiracy, he should have brought in an outside counsel to do the questioning — someone like Gregg Jarrett, Andrew McCarthy or Sidney Powell. They would not be distracted and would drill down into the highly damning facts.
As it stands now, the hearing looks likely to be window dressing for Republicans to claim they held Rosenstein accountable while at the same time ensuring that no new information came to light to prove the conspiracy.
Politics as usual. (I HOPE I’M WRONG!)
