Trump earns fifth nomination for 2021 Nobel Peace Prize

Donald Trump has just been nominated for the fifth time for the 2021 Nobel Peace Prize.

There has been some confusion about this, as many media outlets reported on the 2020 award of the prize to the World Food Bank as if Trump had been passed over.

In fact, the nominations for Trump started in September, which is when nominations opened for the 2021 Prize. Nominations will be accepted until the end of January 2021.

The latest nomination came Monday, Oct. 26, 2020, and recognized Trump “for deterring nuclear war with North Korea, through summitry de-escalating North Korea’s nuclear threats, and for his Executive Order on Coordinating National Resilience to Electromagnetic Pulses that pioneers protecting electronic civilization from the existential threat posed by solar superstorms, nuclear and non-nuclear EMP weapons.”

The nomination was made by five U.S. foreign policy experts, including retired Maj. Gen. Paul Vallely who is a resident of Bigfork, Montana, not too far from me in Kalispell.

Peter Vincent Pry said the following about the nomination regarding Korea:

“To North Korea’s nuclear threats, President Trump responded with strength: warning that any nuclear attack on the U.S. or its allies would result in the destruction of North Korea; moving additional aircraft carriers, naval and airpower into the Pacific theater; exercising and demonstrating this power in cooperation with allies; and strengthening missile defenses in South Korea, Japan, and the United States.

“Therefore, President Donald J. Trump deserves the gratitude and recognition of the international community for deterring nuclear blackmail, and preventing a possible nuclear war with North Korea.

“Moreover, President Trump became the first U.S. president to meet with North Korea’s leader, to visit North Korea, and to hold direct face-to-face summits seeking North Korea’s denuclearization.

“Although North Korea has not denuclearized and continues building-up its arsenal of nuclear weapons, ICBMs and other missiles, Pyongyang has so far honored its pledge to President Trump to refrain from nuclear and ICBM tests for nearly three years.”

As for the nomination regarding the international threat of EMP, Pry said this:

“President Trump on March 26, 2019, signed his Executive Order on Coordinating National Resilience to Electromagnetic Pulses that directs the U.S. Government to protect the national electric grid and other life-sustaining critical infrastructures from the catastrophic consequences of solar and manmade EMP.

“President Trump’s EMP Executive Order entails a whole-of-government effort to rapidly achieve cost-effective protection of electric grids and other critical infrastructures that will directly benefit, not only the United States, but also Canada that shares the North American electric grid, and all nations that follow the U.S. example toward EMP preparedness.”

Trump has previously been recognized for his unprecedented ability to bring Arabs and Jews together in common pursuit of peace. Both the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain signed peace deals with Israel. In addition, Sudan has now also reached a historic accommodation with Israel.

In addition, President Trump was recognized in a separate nomination for his negotiating an economic agreement between Serbia and Kosovo, two historic enemies.

Other nominations have recognized President Trump for his resistance to participating in “endless wars.” Trump is the first American president in decades who has not started some foreign war.

The list of signers on the new nomination is as follows:

  • Dr. Peter Vincent Pry, Director, Task Force on National and Homeland Security
  • Fred Fleitz, President & CEO, Center for Security Policy
  • Thomas G. McInerney, Lt. General U.S. Air Force Retired, Former Assistant Vice Chief of Staff HQS USAF
  •  Paul E. Vallely, Major General, U.S. Army Retired; Former Deputy Commanding General, Pacific Command; Chairman of Stand Up America Foundation
  •  Tom Trento, Director, The United West

Nominations can only be made by certain people recognized by the Nobel Prize Committee. The new nomination qualifies because of the credentials of the signers as leaders of institutes of foreign affairs.

We will have to wait until October of next year to find out if President Trump is awarded the prize, but we already know he amply deserves it. Of course, there will be a huge bias against Trump among those who make the final decision, but pressure is already building for Trump to get his due. He’s now working to remove US troops from Afghanistan after 19 years there.

Just how many Peace Prize nominations do you think President Trump before nominations close on Jan. 31? I don’t think it’s over yet!

  1. To hear Biden denounce Trump’s breakthrough with North Korea is actually isolationist. Remember to keep your friends close and your enemies closer!

  2. Thanks for clarifying all of this for us, Frank. Former Nobel peace prize winner Obama was all talk and no walk….Trump WALKS.
