Word has arrived that Nancy Pelosi will authorize the opening of an impeachment proceeding against President Trump on the basis of a hearsay whistleblower complaint about how Trump handled a phone call with the Ukrainian president in July.
It would take the fantastical imagination of Rube Goldberg to create the mechanism by which the desperate Deep State Democrats have gone from their fake Russian collusion narrative to the racism smear to the Stormy Daniels smut shaming to SharpieGate and finally to their absurd allegations blaming Trump for talking to Ukraine about Vice President Biden’s apparent bribery of a previous Ukrainian president.
I’m not sure about you, but as for me, if the Democrats go forward with this traitorous charade, I will be their sworn enemy until the end of time. It was the Democrats who gave us the first Civil War, and if they are willing to start another one over these phony Ukraine charges, they had better be prepared for the same result — total devastating humiliating defeat.
This is wrong on so many levels that it is hard to know where to start. Democrats complain that the administration has not turned over the whistleblower complaint to Congress, but it would be wrong to do so since the complaint is not valid on its face. The whistleblower law is only supposed to cover actions by members of the intelligence community and does not apply to the president himself. The president obviously is authorized by the Constitution to talk about anything he wants with foreign leaders. Congress can not put any longer limits on that power outside of its own constitutional authority.
According to the New York Times, before the complaint can be turned over to Congress:
The inspector general must also determine whether the allegations amount to an “urgent concern,” meaning they relate to a “serious or flagrant problem, abuse, violation of the law or executive order, or deficiency relating to the funding, administration, or operation of an intelligence activity within the responsibility and authority of the director of national intelligence involving classified information.”
Obviously, the president is NOT under the authority of the Director of National Intelligence. Quite the opposite.
Moreover, if Biden committed criminal acts , he does not gain immunity by running for president. It is plain by Biden’s own words that he tried successfully to get a Ukrainian prosecutor fired by threatening to withhold an aid package. It is also clear that the prosecutor was investigating the Ukrainian company that Biden’s son Hunter worked for.
According to the Democrats and the media mob, Biden’s actions are of no significance. He can do whatever he wants, while Trump can do nothing — nothing!– without the express prior approval of Congress.
President Trump has scheduled the release of the complete transcript of his conversation with the Ukranian president tomorrow. Democrats can’t be expected to wait for the facts to make their move against Trump, and they have no shame, so the facts will not stop them in any case. But at some point one has to hope that the American people will rise up and defend their elected leader from the continuing efforts to remove him from office on any excuse.
