The good Lindsey Graham has shown up today — thank God!
You know the good Lindsey Graham, right? The one who showed up toward the end of the Brett Kavanaugh confirmation hearings to call bullshit on the fake rape charges leveled against Judge Kavanaugh.
Well, today, as the Senate Judiciary Committee hearing got underway on the Inspector General’s report about the Russia hoax, Sen. Graham put on his angry hat. Before any questioning got underway, before hearing from Inspector General Michael Horowitz, Graham went on an epic rant to lament the way the FBI tried to take down candidate Donald Trump out of sheer hatred.
He excoriated the media for its attempt to spin Horowitz’s report into a clean bill of health for the FBI and the Justice Department in their plot to try to frame Trump.
“You clearly didn’t read it” Graham said. “If that’s your takeaway that this thing was lawfully predicated, and that’s the main point, you miss the entire report.”
I don’t know if it is irregular or not for the chairman to take 25 minutes at the beginning of a hearing to read the Riot Act to the media and the Never Trump Democrats, but that’s what Graham did.
“The first thing I want you to know is how the cake is baked here and my goal is to make sure … you look at this as more than a few irregularities, because if this becomes a few irregularities in America, then God help us all.”
Graham read from the infamous Strzok-Page text messages, and read some of the findings of the Horowitz Report that clearly demonstrate that there was an abuse of power by high officials in the FBI and the Justice Department.
The Democrats and the media will call Graham a kook and put him on a ledge with Trump and Attorney General William Barr, but there is still a small possibility that the truth will prevail.
