I wanted to take a moment to acknowledge the latest victory of Nick Sandmann, the young man from Covington, Kentucky, who put on a MAGA hat and stood up to the mob.
On Friday, July 24, Sandmann announced that the Washington Post has settled his $250 million defamation lawsuit against the paper for an unrevealed sum. It happened on his 18th birthday, which is sweet, but there was never any doubt that Sandmann was more of a grownup than any of the hacks at the Post.
He is also a role model for all of us about how to respond to the far-left propaganda machine. If you ever lose hope about making a difference, remember Nick Sandmann. If you ever doubt that justice is possible, remember Nick Sandmann.
You know the story. Sandmann is one of the Catholic kids from Covington who was in Washington DC in January 2019 when they were confronted first by Black Hebrew Israelite cultists and then by a far-left Native American activist. Because Sandmann and some of the other kids were wearing MAGA hats, CNN and other news outlets smeared them as dangerous racists.
Sandmann’s attorney Lin Wood filed defamation lawsuits against CNN, the Post, the New York Times, ABC, NBC, CBS, Gannett and Rolling Stone. CNN already settled with Sandmann in January of this year. As Sandmann tweeted yesterday, “2 down, 6 to go.”
We have settled with WAPO and CNN.
The fight isn’t over. 2 down. 6 to go.
Don’t hold your breath @jack.
