Palin’s run for Congress is a shot across bow of the establishment

Sarah Palin’s decision to run for Congress in Alaska is the best news I have heard in a long time.

Palin, of course, rose to international fame when Sen. John McCain chose her as his running mate in 2008. Sadly, Palin out-classed McCain in nearly every regard, and though she tried to teach the old dog new tricks, McCain proved to be just another establishment swamp creature. Though his instincts were right in picking her as his VP, he didn’t have the fortitude to follow her in founding the Tea Party movement.

When Palin starting talking like a real person and spouting common sense about the American people’s priorities, the media went crazy. Fourteen years later, they are still crazy, and you can bet that the New York Times, NBC and the rest will try to savage Palin with lies and innuendo. But this is post-Trump America, and we are ready for all the Fake News tricks now. Indeed, Palin should come out of this campaign stronger than ever.

(Check out my column from 2011 about Palin’s “One Nation” bus tour where I go into some detail about Palin’s intuitive understanding of both politics and America.)

Palin announced today that she is running to fill the House seat held by the late Rep. Don Young. Her website www.sarahpalin.com announced that “Sarah Is Running For Congress!” and asked for support in the special election’s primary scheduled for June 11. The general election will be held on Aug. 16.

Politico reported that “Palin spoke with former President Donald Trump last week, according to two people familiar with the conversation. Trump encouraged the Alaska Republican to run for Congress.”

Her press release included this statement:

“Public service is a calling, and I would be honored to represent the men and women of Alaska in Congress, just as Rep. Young did for 49 years. I realize that I have very big shoes to fill, and I plan to honor Rep. Young’s legacy by offering myself up in the name of service to the state he loved and fought for.”

  1. I am glad she is back to serve the country. I always liked her, and she was spot on and years ahead with her political savvy. RLS
